killers/psychos and 'god told me to'

just curious here, if anyone has any confirmed input...

what do they really mean? i mean it sounds like they are saying god is talking to them before they commit whatever act... but is it possible they just saw 'signs' and took that as what god wanted (if that makes sense)

basicly when someone says 'god told me to' are they actually saying they think god is speaking to them, or not?

I think they are claiming that they heard the voice of God and then are following through on the commandment given.
They claim they had a revelation.

God speaks to us through his word, and in his word he doesn't tell us to go do any of that.
The Lord did speak to many people, and they heard him, but it doesn't exist today.

that would really depend on the situation. to the ones where God is speaking, there may not be any kind of secret X Files type shit going on and it is a product of the person's own mental illness.

however, i believe that what is called "God" can speak to others, but is it generally for a betterment of humanity, and not totally yourself.

"god" is just a voice in their head. Auditory hallucinations can be a bitch.

I tend to agree with this logic.

Assuming there were a God, I don't think he'd be wasting his time on some tweaker living in his mom's basement. That's an awfully self-important claim to make.
Nothing like the combination of vanity and mental illness to sprout up a whole crop of messiahs like fungus after a summer rain...

As far as psychotically unstable people murdering in the name of God... it is usually nothing more than a schizophrenic delusion.. Some part of their personality--or a separation of their personality--wants to do harm to another for whatever reason. They then have an internal monologue with the host personality, and the host claims to hear the voice of God telling them to murder whoever it might be.

As far as people who claim to hear God telling them with a spiritual reasoning, I think it is more or less an intuition. While conscious, they have slipped into a partial meditative state where their brain is performing on an alpha-wave frequency. I am guessing their subconscious mind has accessed the Akashic Records, or something of the sort, and very real information that they had no previous knowledge of, was granted to them. Edgar Cayce, an american clairvoyant, performed over 20,000 psychic readings for people, over 14,000 of which have been documented in detail. He performed medical diagnoses, foretellings of the future, tellings of fortune.. all while in a self-induced trance-like state. When asked one time under this hypnotized state where he got his information from, he replied "the Akashic Records." Of course, Edgar Cayce, being an uneducated man, had no previous knowledge of such things, and absolutely no medical knowledge, yet he diagnosed others and himself in great detail. Some diagnoses were unfamiliar even to the medical world at that time.
