    OBE - astral projection

The only thing about that method is that it's hard to differentiate between dream and reality in that. So most people actually do it the regular way.
I don't think they are the same. Almost all my dreams are atleast partially lucid. And i've had 1 OBE. They weren't too similar.

They could also be sleep paralysis. I've experienced that frequently and it resembles being out of the body- there is a scary/trippy feeling to it...I couldn't move my body, but my "self" moved beyond my body, and seemed to hover, float around, move through walls, etc. Pretty weird stuff. I could feel an episode coming on like a creeping paralysis. It always happened while lying on my back, just as I would lie down for a nap; studies have actually found that correlation- so I switched to sleeping on my side, and no more out-of-body traveling! That may be different from astral projection but it sounds very similar to me.
Another time I've had that sort of sense (other than from hallucinogenic drugs of course) was from meditating once. I'd been meditating daily for weeks before I had the experience of lightness and feeling beyond earthly self. I wish I had the discipline to sit still and do that more, but I am SO figety! It was a beautiful experience.
I also felt a soaring of the spirit once while chanting with 50 women in a Buddhist temple in Tokyo. The voices merged into a sound, harmony of the spheres, and that was definately an elevation beyond the material.
Altered states are very interesting aren't they:stoned:

    OBE - astral projection

one day when i was on a trip :hippy:. i was tired, and went to go lay down on the bed. i just dropped backwards onto the bed, and fell through it like it was water. i was looking up at myself laying out on the bed. For like 10 min i stayed in this state, not quite in my body but not fully out of myself. My freind opened the door, and i could see her face, her mouth was saying somthing but i couldn't hear. i floated back into myself and woke up. I tried to explain this to my freinds but they didn't undarstand.

Well guys, of course you can think what you want on this subject, but let me assure you. Astral Projection is the same thing as lucid dreaming, you leave your body in both, just in astral projection you feel it, while during lucid dreaming, you're unconscious. Some sites/people will say that's not true, but like I said, you can choose to believe what you want.

Yes, it is possible to project under the influence of marijuana.. And yes, it is very real.

i had one once, i couldnt really control what was going on, but i was outside of my body and i could clearly see the spot where i was sitting, and my friend siting on a chair acriss from me, he was conversing with me, and i would have a delay in which i would hear what had said then like it was being relayed through my body to my mind... i could process it then think of a response and watch as it came out of my mouth... the whole experience lasted about 10 minutes im guessing... it was assisted by the use of some unmentionable substances

I had a really vivid lucid dream recently. When I realised I was dreaming I tried to walk through a wall, and in doing so confirmed to myself that I had indeed reached a state of lucidity. But the thing is I couldn't stop having the ability to pass through solid objects. I could push my hand into walls and actually feel some resistance when I did it, I really had to force myself through walls. But the strange thing was I kept waking up in the dream, in the house where I was sleeping and each time I would get up and find that I still had this power. After several times I started to get really paranoid that I would never be able to stop having this ability, and just before I woke up there were people in the houses across the road from me watching from their windows. I closed the curtains, yet still everyone outside could look in and see me. Perhaps I was connecting with my neighbours in the astral plane. The dream didn't lead to the sensation of flying or floating outside my body as it often does. But it was certainly one of the most lucid states I have ever acheived in a dream for a while.
