why does music have to cost a fortune
ive been playing music almost my entire life, i have never made anything of it but my own pleasure of making music, what bothers me it the actual cost of ANY musical instrument, my entire guitar gear cost over 1000.00 which took me years to put together, anyone just starting out gets really screwed on cost and craftsman ship of thier instrument.
i have gotten a pearl drumset(no hardware/cymbals) very cheap on craigslist and decided i wanted to play drums again, its been about 10yrs since i played drums full time and i missed them terribly so i headed to Guitar Center..........
GOD DAMN THIEVES i tell you, i dont remember paying out the ass for cymbals and hardware but damn man i dropped 200 bucks and didnt even get half of what i needed, i dont want to sound like a cheap ass but 150.00 for a cymbal is a bit pricey for me just to buy for no damn reason other than self amusment.
i still need a snare stand( 45.00)
2 cymbals stands (50.00 each)
and 2 crash cymbals (100-150.00 each)
so i still need to spend about 300 or more just to play them....:wtf:
thank god i bought new heads for it months ago(110.00 total) and yet they still sit here looking good with no way of playing them yet.......
my advice is to buy used gear as new stuff is so freaking expensive, thats my rant for the day :jointsmile:invision Reviewed by invision on . why does music have to cost a fortune ive been playing music almost my entire life, i have never made anything of it but my own pleasure of making music, what bothers me it the actual cost of ANY musical instrument, my entire guitar gear cost over 1000.00 which took me years to put together, anyone just starting out gets really screwed on cost and craftsman ship of thier instrument. i have gotten a pearl drumset(no hardware/cymbals) very cheap on craigslist and decided i wanted to play drums again, its been about 10yrs since i Rating: 5

Yeah I hate how much musical equiptment is but atleast most stuff is quality. I got a Pearl drum set and all together it cost me over $1,000 but it was worth it and it will probably still be good when I have kids. Atleast instruments keep their value not like a $600 iPhone that will break in a year or two. Usually I check musican's friend for the scratch and dent because I got my drums like $400 off just because the color in the shells is all foggy but they still sound good.

-Adapt, react, readapt, act.
-Image is everything.
-Saftey first, i.e. don\'t burn the building down.

I played the violin in grade school, I think it cost like 500 dollars, my mom was real pissed when I quit.

i know exactly what you mean, im hoping to go into a career in music, going to school for recording and producing and there's lots of things i could do right now if i were able to afford the equipment, however instead i just have to work with what i got and can afford and hope one day i'll be able to afford my more ambitious ideas
