I am new to this. I want to mess with some masterlow, power stout, and blue streak. I have been reading lots of forums about growing and these strains. I plan on messing with 4 plants at a time, and wish to have the highest yields, in a time effective manner, with a high thc potency.

I have a Retro Ace 360 Watt Retrofit HPS Lamp, and a hood. I need a ballast. Is the light I have any good? It looks very large and seems like a nice light. What kind of ballast should I get if I intend on only messing with autoflowering strains? Should I get a digital ballast? Also I have a 400W Sylvania Metalarc Lamp. I guess that will do me no good if I am going to mess with only lowryder, autoflowring strands, right?

Should I go hydro or aero -ponics?

I will need seeds too but I want to get my room setup, then I will deal with the seeds. I'm sure I'll go with some from Mdanzig and SaH, as they seem like the pro's at crossing stable autoflowering strains, and are active in the online communities.

Please help guide me to happy, high yielding days, and stony, smiling nights

I am not sure which ballast for you to get but for anything I would always get the best you can afford and bigger is better.

Hydro or Aero more of a personal choice. If you are not an exp. Hydro grower do you know someone that can mentor you through the first grow.

If you do not yet have Power Stout you better find some and buy it as MD is going to move it to a backburner for now and does not have a PS seed run on his calendar.

MD for sure is the brains I mainly follow his lead and help him. I was really lucky to be in the right place at the right time in a new area and got a super break to get in and take lessons from MD. I am still working on his stuff I did no real breeding just growing and making seeds. The G13 x Hashplant x LR seeds I got are almost 100% AF and the breeder had to quit due to Chron's disease but i'll keep it going. So I have yet to do any real breeding. But I am going to start the process for my own cross and I am thinking of a Lisa Marie to BlueStreak and making Sour Streak.

Thanks for the response SaH. I have decided to get a new ballast and new lights. Would you recommend I get 600 Watt or 1000 Watt? I can make my room as big as you recommend, but I will only be messing with 4 plants at a time, as any more would be an F on the record you know what I mean? So if 1000 watt isn't overkill for only 4 plants i'll get it, just please let me know what you recommend. Also how much power does a 1000 Watt and a 600 Watt use, as I'm trying to fly under the radar if you know what I mean?

Yes I know several people that have grown hydroponics that are close friends. Its just a matter of picking one of them to walk me through it, as they will be the only person involved and informed. One of my buddies is moving to China soon and has grown some great stuff, so I'll probably choose him. He'll be moving in about 4 months so then I wont have to worry about him being in the know, cus he will be a little bit aways

Before you buy anything what are your future plans for growing ? If you are going to stick always growing some that AF's 400w HPS is fine and if you plan on now and than doing a regular strain ? I would go with a 600w HPS.

Unless you are going from hardly turning on the heat or AC and you turn 8-9-10 1000 watters you don't have much to worry about. OK a 1000w uses a 1000watts perhour look at your power bill and it says how much a kilowatt costs times that by how many hours your light is on every month and there is your charge on your bill. The power company has basic ideas what a 1-2-3-4 bedroom and a pool or spa uses and unless you go extremely over that limit you don't have much to worry about it. NEVER steal power.

First for anyone reading this I do not sell seeds privately.

BS is still 2-3 months away from being released and I would say the G13 cross is at least 6 months away. ML can be found on Seedbay at the moment and IS the only real MD out there right now all others are knockoffs.

I've seen a lot of people who have "heard", "read", and ASSUMED so much about the -ryder strains, BUT NEVER ACTUALLY GREW OR TRIED IT! But, it is green eggs and ham, that being actually great once you sit down and try it!

I grew some Masterlow, the plant never got more than 14 inches, but it did give me more than 11 grams. From a 2 liter pot. My first try at the autoflowers.

Sure, I've heard that Lowryder is not-so-potent, but after I read more, and tried the Masterlow, I know that this plant is the direction to grow. I can't wait for the "real" blueberry x masterlow Bluestreak to come out! I bet right after the seeds are all sold out, a lot of people will be doing NEW talking, reading, rumoring, BEGGING.

Crystals? Most definitely abundant.
Potency? Will get you seriously stoned.
Taste? Awesome!

SWIFS had the idea to grow lowryder for seed with the goal of growing a 100x100 ft outdoor patch harvested before either cops or thieves start looking. Germination rates SUCK. The bud is mids, barely. Lots of potential for the guerilla grower, but the strain needs plenty of work.

well it comes down to if you want stealth and autoflowering, like in my case thats why im gonna grow some lowryder #2 bigger yeilds than LR but still stealthy but i have heard LR #2 gives off a skunky stench

Yeah, the Lowryder #2 is more potent than the original. The Masterlow hybrid is actually excellent.

People who buy the seeds off the pirates who sell them as "Lowryder" often have low germ rates. Better to buy from where the JointDoctor is an official germplasm acquisition.

Germination problems occured with seeds from the first crop, not from the original JD seeds. Killed the project all the same.
