If your classmate brings this up again, mention the doctors. In several states and foreign countries, marijuana is legal for medical purposes, and nowhere do doctors warn their patients that they could lose brain function or become brain dead. Why? Because no responsible doctor would ever prescribe something that did that, and if they absolutely had to they would inform their patient about the risk. The overwhelming consensus among the medical community is that marijuana does not cause brain damage. School educators, police officers and government-sponsored TV ads do disagree, but they're not the experts on how chemicals react with the human body.
