Actually this isn't entirely true. Scientists believe that there is one area in the brain that reproduces brain cells after the adolescent stage that you're talking about. I think it's the hippocampus but I'm not entirely sure. I know we discussed it in my AP psychology class though and read some article on it. But it's just this one area of the brain.
