Many more mistakes besides that. The downfall of the Dolphins started over 10 years ago when they took Billy Milner with their #1 pick in 1995. He didn't do anything. Then in 1997 after a frustrating season where Dan Marino's receivers couldn't separate themselves from defensive backs (he still got them the ball though and they still would drop it) they drafted Yatil Green with their first round pick, a wideout from The U. It was a great pick but disaster strikes. Like the 3rd day of training camp he blows out his knee. He comes back from that only to blow out the other knee in training camp again. No one could have predicted all that but that is when everything really started to go downhill.

Here are some more First and Second round draft highlights of the Dolphins:
Trade one 1st round selection, use the other to draft John Avery, RB. Later that season they trade him to Denver for their 1st round pick, Joey Kent, WR. They then cut Kent 4 days later.....WTF?
 No 1st round picks
 No 1st round picks
1st round pick Jamar Fletcher, CB. He didn't last long either
Traded 1st round pick for Ricky Williams, didn't seem bad at the time....(no second round pick either)
Traded 1st round pick to New Orleans based on Ricky's production
Drafted Vernon Carey, who hasn't done anything (no 2nd or 3rd round picks that year).
Trade a second round pick for A.J. Feely, qb, to Philly, which ends up being the 35th overall pick because of the horrible 2004 season when Ricky sat out because he likes his pot. Also, in a scramble to get a running back they trade a 3rd round pick to St. Louis for Lamar Gordon who plays about 3 games before breaking his shoulder blade. Feely ends up getting traded a year later for a 6th round pick. Way to waste a second round pick Fins.
Second Round pick for Culpepper who played 4 games for the Dolphins. Now he is in Oakland. Another great use of a second round pick.
Draft a WR instead of Brady Quinn in the first round. Who's going to get him the ball, Trent Green? This team is old and has not been restocked through the draft well so why trade another pick for a 37 year old QB that really hasn't done much either. Oh well, I guess they can use next year's top 10 pick to get a QB.
