Why is marinol legal and marijuana is not legal?

There is another way to take cannabis, and it doesn't involve sticking it up your bunghole. You can make a simple but high quality herbal extract from it, then use a nubulizer/inhaler to spray it into your lungs, just like how people take that asthma medication. So this way you'd probably have to get cannabis from an herbal medicine store, but that's still a lot better than getting it as a medication. But smoking is still the nicest, most social way, which is of course why the government and prudes don't want people smoking it.

because you have to pay $800 a month for marinol as opposed to being able to grow your own marijuana for free...plus it's likely you'll enjoy buying more medication to deal with the side effects of marinol...

Marinol is synthetic THC. THC is one of 66 unique cannabinoids in marijuana. There are many other therapeutic chemicals in marijuana, they just haven't been able to synthesize them yet..

think about the irony in this...to the government medical marijuana is 'marinol' but actual marijuana has 'absolutely no medical benefit' yet they took one of the chemicals from marijuana (thc) and are using it for medical purposes? our government makes no fking sense..

Marinol is a much more concentrated dose of THC, and many people often claim it is too concentrated, and they become way too intoxicated, as opposed to marijuana where you can easily control your dosage and feel the effects nearly instantly..

Yeah the ability to easily grow medicine (cannabis) is apparently the primary factor making cannabis illegal. Most drug/medicine plants are much harder to grow or harvest, and usually can only grow properly in certain geographical areas. For example I can grow opium poppies, but it's not easy to harvest (apparently) and high quality drug can only be produced from poppies grown in certain geographical areas, same goes for tobacco, tea, chocolate, and all kinds of stuff.

well damn, i guess there isn't much to say... yea basically because marinol can be controlled... if you want help with laws... look for the money trail

actually i find it highly hypocritical, as someoen with alot of experience with them, they are by far, much more dangerous then bud is, even consdiering you smoke bud...

they are also highly unpredictable... making it damn near impossible to accurately judge dosage and have it work most of the time (by unpredictable i mean, you can take one, one day, and get the full effect/benefit, then the next day under the EXACT same instnaces (everything from what you ate/drank to the tempature of the room) and take the exact same dosage, and it will do nothing, or make you nauseated....

if you ask me, that kinda defeats the purpose...
