What's jail or prison like???

Monday I got arrested for having 1 gram of marijuana; I went to jail and they put me in with what I would call the peaceful guys who were just doing their time so they can get on with their lives...Was it really that bad? No, but sitting there thinking about being in a place, and not getting to leave..that's the bad part..Oh, and another thing, I'm only 18 and having to piss in front of guys who are two and three times older than me is a bit of an awkward feeling..

I'm not a criminal, the only law I break is smoking marijuana..it sucks I have to go to jail for something like that, but all I can do is be as careful as I can...

I can only speak for English prisons but I would advise you to try to stay out of any prison.

Sometimes I suppose.

I hated the boredom of it and of course the limitations.

Gang culture doesn't really exist in English prisons like it does in the US but one on one fights happen all the time. I got attacked by a guy with a massive pipe wrench in the workshop . I saw him coming and sidestepped him , I tripped him over and pounced on him while he was face down. I was grabbed from behind by the screws (guards) and I got a kicking from them in solitary as did the other guy. I still have no idea why he attacked but I think I might have told him to fuck off when he asked me for snout (tobacco) the day before.

Yes, you'd be amazed how inventive cons can be when it comes to weapons.

I aint never been in prison or jail,but Once I went to my freinds house and his uncle just got out of prison,he was there for 25 years....he was an old dude,and all he could talk about was how he wished he was back in there with his freinds......talkin about what he would be doing right now if he were there and what they would be havin for dinner...it seemed like he missed being in prison.:wtf:

People get institutionalised and can't cope on the outside , they need the regime and the simplicity of not having to think for themselves. It gives responsibility to authoritites , it means no bills to pay , food every day and a lack of social expectations.
For some that's easier than freedom.

I've been in both jail (90 days) and in Federal Prison (6 months) and I've done house arrest for a year.

It's not like the movies. It's far more serious and not quite as agressive. Prisoners are separated. They ask your sexual prefrence because gays are kept together. They ask you religion and they try to keep all religious groups together. They go by your offence and if you stole fifty bucks while pick pocketing an old lady you are not going to be bunking with a murderer. Respect EVERYONE, Under estimate NO ONE, and if you are white don't go starting shit with black just because you are white. Make sure the leader of your group has yoru back or else you will be disciplined by your own people. Chill.

You do NOT have to join a gang. Unless that's how you roll. You can't be one of those guys with a shaved head and gang signs tattooed on yoru skull and then expect not to be in a gang. On the flip side you can't be a guy who works for the Geek Squad and then expect to roll up and be with the South Siders eating at their table. Stick to your own the first week. You see somebody who is cool, be cool. You see somebody who is a dick, stay away and don't fuck with him. Lions don't associate with deer, snakes don't hang around and chill with birds. If you're a bird, kick it with the birds and stay clear of the lions. It's a jungle, no shit. YOU DO NEED FRIENDS, but not a gang. if you'er not in a gang, don't join one because you'll be the bitch. LITERALLY!

YES! People get fucked up by other inmates. Not as often as you see on TV. If you're cool and you respect EVERYBODY and if you don't wreak of bitch, you'll be fine. Most people just want to serve their time and get back out there. Most people. be careful, never disrespect ANYBODY unless you are going to back it up with a nice beating and then have the backup to not to get murdered while in the shower or during chow. Chill.

Fun? I'm 6'5" 325lbs and can bench close to 400 pounds. I'm Italian meaning I'm white so I can be in the Wood Pile (whites) yet I'm also dark so I can join with the South Siders (Mexicans) just depends on who I want to roll with. Once you make up your mind, you can't switch and it's got to be done in 5 minutes. I was scared. I cried. Not sleeping with a woman by my side, not kissing my kids, not being able to wake up and drive my Mercedes to the corner store to get a diet coke when ever I felt like and not being able to watch TV, listen to the radio, go out side, take a shit without 50 people watching me, not being able to jerk off when I feel like it, not being able to take a nice hot shower ALONE when you feel like it, not being able to eat when you want, not being able to eat what you want, not being able to eat how much you want, not being able to call yoru friends and go to a drive thru when you're bored, not being able to do anything except sit and think! That's fun?

Bro, if that is your idea of fun then I suggest you go write a note saying "PUT ALL THE MONEY IN A BAG BITCH OR I"LL KILL YOU!" and drop it off at your locak bank. You'll be having fun in no time!

Oleg, please dont refer to telling people you got out of prison. Makes you look like a slumb, and its not funny, I cant even get a job now. I got locked up and charged as an audlt at 17, then sent to prison for 3 years, and got out after 2 years, I left on parole after 2 years. At 18 years old it was hell let me tell you. People try and punk you everyday, and just wait untill your about to get out. Thats when they try and get you, so you get yourself in shit and do more time. I got charged with intent to distribute cocaine with posession over an ounce.

Until I body slamed one guy (about 225), it was a fully straightened arms body smal, more of a "toss" and I was jumped before I got to fly ontop of him. I "earned" my respect and nobody ever messed with me ever again.

I spent six months praying that dude doesn't come stab me during shower/chow/day room.

And it isn't just the guy you're watching out for, it's anyone who is associated with him too.

up here jail, or detention time, is 2 years or less. if you are doing more than 2 years, your doing fed time.

jail is the orange jump suits, nothing to do. prison can be alot better than jail, or alot worse. it can be a good as fishing on a dock, or as bad as 23 hrs a day in a basement cell by yourself.

rape is a risk in prison, but not really in jail.

thanks to the wonders of plea bargains, i havent been past a holding cell. but i got a buddy who is a guard and here is his advice:

do your own time.
dont whistle.
dont let the door slam.
dont rat.

he says if you are a medium sized guy on the outside, you will be a medium sized guy on the inside... and also, there is people iside that have no idea about the code of the street... so by being medium sized and having some idea how the streets work, you will avoid being the obvious target.

You can actually come across weed in prison? I didn't know that. Thats pretty crazy.
