Longview Washington is a port city located in southwest washington on the Columbia River approximately 120 miles south of Seattle, WA and 55 miles North of Portland Oregon.

I grew up in Longview/Kelso. I have always loathed returning to my home town. I will say that Longview has had a seriously depressed economy for last 30 years but really seems to be regenerating very well now.

It used to be no jobs available at all, and even now its tough to find a good job in that area. However, there are many new businesses commercial development that seems to be thriving.

The Port of Longview is developing more and more, and our Industrial thorougfair has new factories and mills on every square inch. Hell they even tore down the Weyerhauser softball field for a mill.

Triangle Mall has been completely torn down and replaced by a bustling shopping area. It is clean, upscale and pretty nice whereas before you couldnt stand to live near the place.

There is of course a serious Meth & Heroine problem in Longview/Kelso that has taken many many lives.

Hopefully this burst of city growth is not "too little, too late" and we can see the port city of Longview Washington become the "North Portland"
