Unaware of unwritten rules
You'll have to hear how offensive women find that word sometime, Newbie. The C-word ranks right up there among the most highly offensive, misogynistic words there are.
Again, our formal rules here reflect common decency. No racism. No flaming/insults. No threats of violence. As I said before, we mods are tasked with making judgment calls on plenty of occasions, but we're generally operating under those guidelines, even when we take down a thread that you don't personally see as insulting. Others, including our advertisers, might see it differently, and we're moderating for everyone, not just thread-posters. If we were to try and spell out all the instances of discretionary decisions we sometimes face, the rules would go on for four pages. And as they stand now at 3/4 of a screen, an astonishing percentage of people haven't ever reviewed them.
As for not agreeing that the question of whether or not you'd say something out loud in public to strangers is a good way to determine whether something's appropriate or not, well, that's a shame. Because, of course, this is a public Web forum where you're largely interactng with strangers. The belief that because you have some level of acquaintance with a few or because you're sitting behind the protective anonymity of a computer screen gives you carte blanche to say whatever you might want is a bit scary to me.birdgirl73 Reviewed by birdgirl73 on . Unaware of unwritten rules I'm one of those people that actually read the forum rules, so I abide by them. I also visit this forum semi regularly just to see what's going on in the site. I was surprised to see from a post in this forum that "the c- word" is not allowed. I'm just not sure if it's a ban-able offense, or if your post gets deleted, or what the consequences are. I'm not here to debate whether the word should be allowed, even tho I disagree with it's censoring. I'm just wondering what the consequences Rating: 5\"That best portion of a good man\'s life: his little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and love.\"
