I got a scale for $17 at a local headshop.. at first it was working fine, aside from a small problem with the LCD display (unreadable unless you look at it from an angle) but that kinda fixed itself.

Now the thing won't tare properly.. I put the weighing boat on but whenever I go to press the tare button (on the side) the scale is effected and the readout in grams spikes up, so its impossible for me to tare it to 0, as it drops into the negatives once I let go of the button.

So I decide to check it out without the boat to see what's up and throw a pill bottle on there. I try it a few times and realize that I'm not always getting the same readout. At first, it was about 8.3, but in different locations on the scale it reads a different number, varying from something like 7.5g directly below the initial spot to 22g in the top left corner.

Any recommendations? I initially thought it may have been the battery but then I found out that it reads differently depending on the location. Could it be fixed by recalibrating the scale? How would I go about doing it? Helppp
