3 Weeks flowering, Nirvana Big Bud

I started off with 5 plants and vegetated for about 5 weeks. 4 became males. So this one female got a whole 12 gallons of dirt to herself. I started my plants under T12 fluorescent lights, then moved to a 400-watt HPS system about a week before I switched to 12/12.

It's in my attic, and temperatures are typically around 90 degrees. I have a 50 cfm bathroom fan providing ventilation, hooked up to a thermostat that's set to turn it on if the temperature hits 90 degrees. I walled off part of the attic and insulated the ceiling there, which helps keep the temperature from shooting up too much during the middle of the day. I'm sure it'll come in useful during the winter too.

I have a whole bunch of fungus gnats and thrips. Garden-Safe spray doesn't seem to do much, but maybe it'd be a lot worse if I didn't use it. I have my lights on at night, which has the unfortunate effect of attracting bugs through my vent. Still, they don't seem to have had too much of an effect on my plant.

I did top the plant during flowering, and the side shoots grew out very well. I only have 68 inches of space in my attic, so I need my plant to be nice and bushy. There's like 20 heads on this thing!

Sick!!!!!! That plant looks great! I would put a screen over your vent to keep out the bugs.

at home depot they sell Hot Shot insect traps for about $8 bucks they work really good just hang one or two in your grow area and give it a day :thumbsup:

Thanks! This is actually my first indoor grow, all my other grows have been outdoors. I've been fertilizing, but not that much. My fertilizer's all been cheap home depot stuff too, I had very limited money when I bought it.

The thrips and gnats weren't such a problem... until they formed their own little breeding colony. Now I think they'll be impossible to get rid of. A lot of the time they end up getting confused and crashing into my HPS bulb. The top of my plant is speckled with dead bugs. I may try out the bug trap though.

Any comments on my setup? I'm thinking of moving the mylar away from the plant a bit, so the reflected light can penetrate deeper in the plant.

Anyway, this goes to show that even one female is way better than none!

Aw. My plant is 5 weeks into flowering. I cut a little bud off her and smoked it after drying it for a few days. Haha, nice. I like this buzz. I probably spent about an hour dancing and then trying to talk to people. But it is kinda late here and everyone is asleep and no one wants to talk to me. Who says people who smoke pot are lazy and sit on the couch? Look at all the excercise I got. I would have gone out to a club. That would have been fun but I don't have the confidence in myself to drive. I think I could but maybe it's best not to risk it and besides I don't know where there's any good dancing places anyway. All the ones I know are full of old people who are trying to act like they're still in college but they're still just losers who can't get laid. I can get laid but I choose not to. Well, actually my girlfriend is in mexico. So sad. I cannot see her still for quite a long time. She is not mexican. When I say that, sometime people are like, sure, you have a girlfriend in another country. But she's on a study abroad program. She's learning spanish and working with poor little kids in Puebla, mexico. And I want to see her now, but she is so very, very far away.

What was I talking about? Oh yeah, big bud is not crappy weed like all those snooty potheads say it is. It's a little on the harsh side I think, but that may well be because I harvested it like 3 weeks early. Still, I think I should harvest some of it early in case it affects how much THC vs. CBD the plant has.

Oh, by the way, the leaves on my plant are all yellow, well all of them except the ones around the buds, those are dark green. And there's also all these new bud sites with leaves appearing all over the branches! I think the leaves all fall off and turn into buds. Isn't that awesome!!?

I got some grub killer that has pyrethrins in it, and I put that on all my plants. That should do away with those pesky thrips pupae. The aphids though... I must get that pest strip you told me of. I should have listened to you a long time ago! You get rep for that, thanks! Maybe it'll do away with all those other pesky insects I have. And best of all, it would leave no residue on the leaves! I don't want to smoke that shit. Well, I probably don't want to smoke pyrethrins either, but I've been spraying them on the leaves.

I'm not really tired, but maybe going to bed now wouldn't be a bad idea.
