Hope you're there stinky! anyways, i got this aerogarden from my bro, but i don't have the materials to put in the holes where the seed starts. Can i use an ordinary sponge? or do i have to buy all the supplies again?

Hm. If you thought dirt was hard... wait until ya deal with 'dro. :wtf:
I've never used one of those things but at the hydro shop they will have rockwool and rapidrooters that you can start seeds in.
I don't DO hydro. (she says with her nose in the air lol
)
(then ducks, waiting for a barrage of flying shoes from the direction of Weedhound, slick-d, and Xcrispis' respective gardens... )

Great unit for tarragon.
Yer gonna have a hell of a time getting any bud outta it.I assume you understand that we have options on your time,
And we will ditch you in the harbour if we must-
But if it all works out nicely,
You\'ll get the bonus you deserve
From doctors we trust.

they really are more for growing your own spices and stuff like cherry tomatoes. My wife went with me to the hydro store and saw one of those and has been bugging me for one ever since. Next time I get $150.00 to blow I will.

so it's not a good device? i only plan on putting one plant at a time in it, so there should be room for the roots. But, whats with hydro? why is it hard? i would imagine that with this i wouldn't have to check on it that much... what's the score here? what's next?

Adam darlin'.
Compost is almost fool-proof. If you have an aerogarden, learn to clone...Looks to me like it's a perfectly acceptable cloner if you know what you are doing.
Hydro is pretty labor intensive- you need more technical know-how to monitor your reservoir conditions. Results can be WONDERFUL. But if it were easy, everyone would do it.
IMHO, get used to the PLANT and its needs first- compost is a place for learning. Tehn as you learn how to troubleshoot the plant, you have the tools to do 'dro (yo).
Check out the nOOb sticky at the top of basic growing. It's a little out of order but you'll have a tough time screwing up if you follow those insturctions!

Have you ever used the AG before?? I have the AG delux it works perfect and VERY little work needed The key is to start to flower early I start at 6in tall then I will goto 12/12 and when it comes to a reservior it just a gallon we are nbot talking a 100 gallon tank it is super simple to use. Just flower early or get some AF seeds online. One thing the AG has a problem with and its the light it comes with. It's perfect for veg but you WILL need a better light setup for flowering I have a 400 watt HPS hydrofarm enclosed light when I started to use that I saw a diffrence in growth almost that day! but I got that for free so I all I did was buy the AG delux with the extend light arm that gives me 24in tall lights that you can adjustas needed.. You may want to put in a airstone but honestly I have found that it is NOT needed but will help. When it come to how much I get well if I grow the lowryder AF seeds I see about 2.75 OZ from three plants in 8 weeks or so!!!! Yes the AG dose cost a lot for what it is but for some one who just don't have the time bulid one I just find it easier to buy it!!!!
