What do you prefer, male or female Ob-Gyn?

I prefer a female. I feel more comfortable discussing my questions and problems with them. I feel like they know where I'm coming from since they have what I have. So whats your choice and why?

I have a female doctor who's about my same age. I've been going to her about 12 years now. She's wonderful. I feel she can identify with me physically and emotionally better than a man doctor, although my previous ob-gyns, including the one who delivered my son, were all men and were excellent doctors. I tend to agree that a female doctor, particularly one who has experienced childbirth herself, has an extra degree of understanding for ob-gyn patients, just like male urologists are probably better suited to deal with male urology patients. One of the other advantages female ob-gyns have is that they have smaller hands!

    Female.
I had this HILARIOUS doc for a while who I SWEAR was like 80. And she would NOT shut up! Cheerful as fuck. And she told me this story:
Teh backgroud is that her office is upstairs from a live music venue called the Iron Horse, where they get quite an assortment of rowdy indie-rock bands and their many fans.
One evening she had a late appointment to fit a chick for her new diaphragm. And the poor girl just could NOT figure out how to get the damn thing in right. She was almost in tears. After several tries, she finally got it- just as the band downstairs finished their set and the audience ERUPTED in applause.
Both of them laughed until they cried.
    I love that story.

female. In my experience women tend to be more reassuring and have a softer touch. They also dont make me feel as self conscious as a man would. I dont want to be embarrassed to ask a question. I also had a bad experience with a male doctor taking care of things down there when I was little.

Having had 6 kids the gender of my doctor no longer matters to me...as long as they know what they are doing... i've had negative experiences with both...
