Infra red imagery don't ever See through anything.. They See the heat from stuff on the inside by seeing the heat signature it produces on the outside and if you have a 1000w bulb in a room with a lead roof the lead will get hot.. and the hot lead will hold the heat for a pretty long time after the source is turned off.
The only way to defeat infra red is to insulate enough that the heat does not reach the outside surface and theres several ways to do that. Air space between outside surface and inside walls with outside air blown through the airspace and the heat dumped into large underground drainage tubes is the best..
As for choppers spotting plants , they see the heat difference for the area due to cultivation and density of plants. The plant growing wild has no difference in heat signature than any other equal size weed . But when you add High Nute soil, Regular water and a bunch of cared for plants they stick out like a sore thumb in infrared.
But a plant here and there scattered in the area and no overly visited and maintained are as invisible to infrared as a milkweed.
actually, the heat signature of cannabis IS different ... I have personally seen quite a few infra-red photographs of the surrounding hills, and the cannabis plants stand out as 'white' while bushes right next to them, are dark, almost black ... (friend is a 'good' Sheriff's Deputy) ... you are quite accurate with the rest of it, though ... your 'fertilizer effect' may be right, never heard that theory before ... :smokin:
