and my laptop already has a wireless card built in. but it's so far out in the country that i dont even think i could get a signal. and i can't really afford to get wireless right now

Ok, you don't want to confuse the two. That card picks up signals from a router and has a very short range. The thing I'm talking about is a card that you plug into your laptop and picks up a signal from a satellite.
