Usually gets ground up into a fine powder then mixed with many chemicals and preservatives, and then reshaped into "nuggets".

That is a female in the very earliest stages of flowering- you can see just the hints of pistils if you zoom in.
The purple coloration is unusually intense on the leaves. It may have been exposed to an extreme of low temperature.
