help legalize the plant (in our life time)

there should be a 'smoke in' in front of the u.s capital or white house, kind of like what the million man march was for black people, like get a modest number of pot smokers like 100,000 organize plan a date, plan speakers, smoke lots of weed for the news cameras. i think it would help in the effort in legalizing pot, by putting national media attention on it. now i suck ass at organizing things any one have any ideas, preferbly rich potheads who can help funding like hire buses to pick smokers up from all parts of the country and bring them to washington. The stuff groups like norml are doing is to little and not getting any mainstream attention, we need to step it up a notch.
Any leaders out there? any ideas? any one willing to take action?

I think even if you could amass a large group of people to openly commit an illegal act in front of important political buildings in Washington, the National Guard would be quickly called in to put down the "treasonous rebellion". There's a crowd in front of the Parliament in Ottawa on an almost daily base getting stoned to prove a point. I actually think it's working, because possession of less than 15 grams will only get you a fine, not more criminal records.

That's pretty sweet. In Chicago now they're starting to pass out tickets for weed, not just paraphernalia. I don't know how much the ticket is for, it could be 400 bucks, which sucks quite a bit.

i think that's a great idea!! unfortunatly i am not rich, but if everyone on this website(and others) started sending numerous letters to the white house begging for a change in the law eventually things may be addressed. the media would also help to sway the minds of many people.....that is if the coverage was positive towards weed, or negative about the way the gov was handling the situation.

they tried do sumthin similar in birmingham england, smokey bears picnic or summit and 100 people were suposed to turn up for a mass protest smoke, but 1 (yes 1!) turned up, not even the organiser appeared!

i love weed as much as the next man but it being illegal dosent effect me, i mean, if it were legal it wouldnt change my activities or the way i go about them in anyway.

if you want a law changed, write a letter to your congressman. better is to visit his/her office and tell him/her how you feel. best plan is to volunteer your time at election to campaign for your congressman, then you're on the ins. It's what I do. My congressman knows me on first name basis. Although we've never smoked, he is in favor of decriminilization.
