    did Edison light up?

i like to read the newspaper in the morning. We get the Washington Post. Yesterday I was reading the Style section and I came across the following excerpt from an article about magazines:

    Did Edison Light Up?
Thomas Alva Edison in the genius who gave us the light bulb and the phonograph. Who knew he also wrote at least one surrealistic prose poem?
That poem appears in Volume 6 of "The Papers of Thomas A. Edison", soon to be published by John Hopkins University Press, and it was reprinted in the August issue of Harper's. Because of its historical and literary significance, we thought we'd reprint it, too:
"A Bowery angel smoking a palm tree stubbed his toe on a comet, and pimplees came out of his toe nail as big as mountains. he swore so much that God made eight new planets out of the conversation & peopled and fauna'd & flora'd them eccentrically. The almighty has a vein of humor. He made these planets & peopled them to give amusements to beings on the rest of the celestial plantation. the men were 800 miles long & 1/4 inch thick. They slept on telegraph poles, and animals with bodies each as big a saucer lived on these long men by catching them by the feet and sucking them in like macaroni"
    Whew!
"The circumstances surrounding the creation of this document are entirely unknown," the book's editors noted.
It makes you wonder: Is it possible that Edison also invented the bong?

The bong is derived from Thailand. Bong comes from the Thai word pronounced "baung."

Still, once you smoke weed once, you think of some crazy shit. Seems in the first year of toking, you invent all kind of contraptions to smoke weed. lol.

Carl Sagan was a marijuana user:
US: Wire: Biographer: Sagan Smoked Marijuana

In Edison's time there were many types of drugs available, including extremely strong cannabis, hash and hash oil-type preparations available at drug stores OTC. There were also dens for the "other" smokable stuff, which he may have indulged in. It wouldn't surprise me if he experimented with or even regularly used a drug or combination of drugs during his lifetime.
