A Bic-type lighter is the best. If you want to use your torch lighter, hold it away so that the visible flame does not touch the weed. You want to use the coolest part of the flame that will still light the weed, same as lighting a cigar.

I always thought it would burn the weed way to fast, since it doesn't have a flame, the flame can't get "pulled" into the bowl, and it's really big and flashy. IDK I just never thought about it, does anyone have any tips on how to use it if I should/could? I go through BIC's like crazy because I'm a pyro and like to flick them just to see the flame.
