One thing though... there's a good chance the black spots are just the natural color of dead leaves. Don't immediately assume you have spider mites unless you see clear evidence of their damage. They make little webs, and they are usually visible to the naked eye. Their damage is usually visible as discolored spots on leaves, and you can see the mites on the underside of those spots.

The buds are no bigger than my pinky fingernail, but the bottom leaves are dying, and everytime they fall off the next leaf starts to die.
