Decent strangers are reassuring

Yesterday was the shittest day i've had in a while. Without going into details it was a combination of serious relationshit and a fucking awful shift at work involving my Slovakian superior (she is the definition of cuntry). I was out at 11 and needed to be with my friends who unfortunately wanted to go see the Simpsons movie without me. I told my best mate about my day over the phone and he agreed that they would meet me in New Malden (a 15 minute train journey away) for a blaze to cheer me up :thumbsup: .

I get to New Malden and still have to cycle along a long road parallel to the train tracks to reach my friends house. Naturally, before i've even had a chance to get on the seat, the entire wheel gives way and i'm forced to walk. As I walk, thinking about how it can't get any worse, a random dude on speed-skates suddenly pulls up next to me eating a plate of chips:

Him: "Wouldn't it be better to ride that thing?"
Me: "The bike is obviously broken." (this sounded a little asshole-esque but i'm in a bad mood)
"Damn, bum deal."
"I need a pair of those *pointing at the skates*, do you skate agressive?"
"Nah, I used to but I prefer going freestyle with it." He does a crazy-ass fluid 360 as he says this, still moving along.
"Nice nice. What are your plans for this evening?"
"You know, go to my friends in Norbiton, smoke up a little weed, skate back at 5 in the morning."
"Sweet as, that's pretty much my plan for tonight too."
"You wanna have a joint right now man?"
"I could very much use it after today."

So he rolls a hash reefer and we chill on the pavement. He tells me how he's actually American but had the accent beaten out of him at school. I tell him about my day and he's sympathetic toward my predicaments. Eventually we simply part ways and I join my mates who were wondering where the fuck i've been.

After a bad day, I couldn't have asked for anything more reassuring than to meet a genuinely nice individual who is happy to chat to someone they've never met and even offer them a joint. At the end of the day, as filthy, deadpan and unfriendly as Britain is, it'll always be the stoners that stick out. :thumbsup:

today when i went down to the store to buy my beer, there was a guy ahead of me with just a thing of toothpaste, paid for it and left.. i checked my beer out paid and as the casheir started bagging it realized he'd left his stuff....

i grabbed my shit and his shit and ran outta the store to catch him and give him his stuff...

Good to hear you found that guy and he was cool. I found it rly interesting coz i know norbiton and new malden, so i can relate. Sorry to hear bout your shitty day though. SW london is where the buds at
