I wouldn't trade an SG for a les paul.
The only Gibson that's more versatile than an SG is the 335/345.

Lol.. thats kinda funny, because (arguably) two best slide guitar players in the world both play SG's, Duane Allman of course, and his successor in the allman bros Derek Trucks (also has his own band, he is a relative of Butch Trucks of the original Allman bros.)
Interesting. I love my SG for jazz work (take five sounds great on it) and metal (sabbath on an SG is the way it was meant to be played.)

i love les pauls, personally they are my favorite shape. i have a prs "single cut" pr elaw suit that is awesome, i love it. its thinner than the usual les paul as it is a "single cut" so its lighter. i proper love it.

but i have a jackson and a pimped out pacifica, plus an acoustic, round back electro and spanish.

i would say go with how you feel. ive never bought a guitar i havn't played cus you never know if your gonna like it so go with your gut. maybe do a trade for a month or so and see how you get on.

    both are iconic guitars.
