Do you "illegally" download music? Use Peerguardian
Peerguardian [http://phoenixlabs.org/pg2/]
The Recording Industry Association of America has been suing people for downloading music online, and unless you live in Canada you might be at risk. While you can't be arrested for doing it, you can be sued. The RIAA pulls you IP address from a copyrighted song they download from you. Then when they get that ip address they contact a judge who gives them a subpoena to get your real ID from your internet provider.
Peer Guardian uses a list of blacklisted IP addresses to block almost all, if not all, of the RIAA computers trying to pull your IP address for a potential lawsuit.
Also don't share your music.
(Mods, please let this stay in the front for awhile, I know it belongs in tech but if it stays here for awhile more people will see it.)cannabisis4for20 Reviewed by cannabisis4for20 on . I would use this if your'e sharing files (more than say, 500) over torrent/limewire etc. (mainly torrent). But if you have better sources i wouldnt worry about it.Remember its if YOUR sharing them, if you download it i dont think theres much they can do - i may be wrong though.

To be honest though, they probably just make an example of a few home users, to shock the rest into not downloading it. If your not sharing a huge amount of files, then you hould be ok - they mainly go for sites.

Have some respect for the people who make the music you like and just buy it. Unless you listen to britney spears or 50 cent or somehting like that. In that case, pirate away.

Plus, this program isn't for people with a moral dilemma against downloading copyrighted music but for people who don't want to be caught.

It sounds, then, that it's not illegal to download anything, just upload - as in distribute. Here in Canada it's all legal, I love it!
I used to be a fanatic music collector. I'd go broke buying all the CD's I love, but after a while I just realized there are too many bands I've been discovering and I couldn't possibly have the money to buy them all, let alone even a few of them. There's much more important things I have to save/spend my money on right now, so I wouldn't buy the music anyway, hence it makes no difference to music industry profits whether or not I listen to it. And still, if it's one of my beloved classics releasing a new album, like Iron Maiden or Motorhead, then I'm definately buying the cd and keeping my discography full.\"I think your love of the halfling\'s pipeweed has slowed your mind\"
