here the recluse stays away but about once a week I kill one black widows too but I too hate spiders I just keep em away, most peolpe let brush and other thing clutter thir yard and that turns into breading grounds for spiders and snakes and lizards and scorpions, scorpions here can kill the only on in the world that can kill and they try to get into my door somtimes
