As for the comet, they have 72 years to figure something out, so I'm not overly concerned about that either. I actually watched a program with one plan to send a craft that will latch on to the asteroid and push it out of the way with it's own propulsion. I don't remember the distance, but they say they could move it just enough, little bit by bit, over 20 years or something.
