Sawleaf, I give up. I was looking some facts up on the internet earlier (its my day-off, so I was bored lol), and i've found convincing arguements for both sides - some saying that gun control causes more gun crime, and some saying that less gun control equates to more gun crime. So who knows? Maybe if guns were illegal in the US, there would be less gun crime than there is now, maybe there would be more - theres no way to tell, you cant erase history and start over. I'm gonna have to change my position and sit on the fence for this one. I'm not saying that i've changed my opinion on guns: I still dislike them, just as I dislike knives, police, and Vanilla flavoured ice-cream. But maybe I was wrong when I said 'more guns = more crime'. Again, who knows? Its the same thing for the ''Legalisation of Cannabis will cause more Cannabis use' or 'Legalisation of Cannabis will reduce Cannabis use'' debate. No one will ever know. You can change the laws, or you can keep them the same, but you cant change whats happened in the past, and you cant just start over.
One more thing... I dont know why everyone seems to think that I hate America and Americans. I said that America has more guns and more gun crime than most places; I was using it as an example. I also said, judging by the amount of gun-crime, I wouldnt like to live in America because i'm safer here - even the police dont carry guns, I dont even think they own any.. But I didnt say I dislike America or Americans, and i'll enver say that, because its not true. So, yeah..
Oh I never said you hate America Ghost. I know there is no way to prove that guns cause or lessen crime really. Statistics show that they do both. I guess it really depends on the people and people are different everywhere. I never really try to argue the crime thing much, because there is too much facts for both sides. My view on firearm ownership is pretty much that you should be able to own what you want as long as you are responsible. I think punishment for misuse of a firearm should actually be stricter than it is currently. Ran across this news article on CNN.com this morning while reading the news. Was strange because it was right after I posted my last post on this thread. http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/01/26/sto....ap/index.html
