Ya people who say guns make you safer that is all BS. America has the most guns per citizens than any other country and we still have the higher death rate via guns. A gun is a machine, it dosen't think on its own, it dosen't fire on its own, it's the person that interviens with the machine that determines that outcome of using a gun. Sitting around me I can name off 10 different items I could use as a weapon to harm//kill someone, but it won't happen without human intervention. Gun's theoretically can make you more safe, that is why Ohio just passed the "Carry" law, where if you pay a monthly fee and take the required courses and have the right certificates and apply at the sherrif's dept, you can leagally carry a concealed weapon in Ohio. Guns kill people no doubt, but its usually as a result of substance abuse or psychological disorder. Bowling for Colombine is a good movie, was pretty funny =p

Look into the factuality of some of the statistics in that movie. It's interesting. There's a book out called "Michael Moore is a Big Fat Stupid White Man". Might wanna download it ((its been typed up)) or peek inside it at a library.

Guns may not make your country safer, but they don't make your country more dangerous either. Pro-gun and anti-gun activsts use many countries as examples for their arguments, but there doesn't seems to be any sure proof that taking guns away or letting people have guns effects the crime rate anyways. I guess it all depends on the type of people. Look at the Swiss, every household has firearms there and it is a very safe country, Austrailia has harsh anti-gun laws that currently passed and crime is on the rise. There are many places with strict gun control laws that have low crime, but many with high crime rates also. Gun control works in some places, but makes crime worst in other areas. I don't care about the crime rates, when the issue of firearm ownership comes up. For me it all comes down to this. Does anyone have the right to say you can't own a firearm? Who has the right to choose what you can or can't defend yourself with? Lets say guns never were invented. Who has the right to say you can't own a bow, sword, or sharpen a damn stick. If the government is saying you can't own something to protect yourself with, because they don't want you to hurt soomeone else with it or commit a crime, isn't that implying that you have criminal intent? Why not enforce the laws we have on the books currently(we have a lot) instead of just adding new laws and not enforcing them? Guns cause crime like flies cause shit.

What about the non-violent gun owners out there? You do know that everyone that owns a firearm is not a violent person right? I certanly enjoy an afternoon of shooting much more than an afternoon of toking.
