Almost done my first grow, time to revamp setup?
Right now im growing with 10x 26 watt CFL's (17,000 lumens), 3x 12v computer fans for ventilation, and a box that's about 1.5x6x6 feet.
Would yield greatly improve if I implemented mylar around the entire thing, and made a new box with centralized light like 4x4x6 feet?
Is 17,000 lumens enough? Or should I add a couple more CFL's? Should I add another fan?jelloscooter Reviewed by jelloscooter on . Almost done my first grow, time to revamp setup? personally I'm not a fan of chrome mylar....it creates hotspots. I find matte white plastic lining to be ideal. It provides strong yet diffuse lighting. I think to improve your grow w/what you're looking to deal with would be more ventilation.

you need to go to a hid light a new box and mylar would also help and you would have to deal with more heat so you would need better ventilation.
but you could still use your original box for veg or cuttings and maybe build a another box with a small hps in it to flower in but if you want to improve yield you need better lighting.

Bejay is right. If you want to expand your grow area, use the set up you have now for propogation and vegging and get some good light for your new box. If you go 4'x4', you want a 1,000 watt light. (Some people might argue that you can use a smaller light. Well, you could, but, if you want to take full advantage of your grow space, 1k is what you need.)

if your only growing for personal use you probably do not need a 4 by 4 area or a 1000 watt light its would be a big jump to go from what you have now to just a hid depednding on how much you want to yield, your flower room size should match your light and shoot for 50 watts per sq ft of hid lighting, if you are just growing for personal use, a 400 in a 2 by 4 area or other size that equaled 8 square ft should supply most people if they are cloning and using mother plants to there advantage.
