Question about seeds/strains
I have a question about strains, seeds, all that stuff.
I've been smoking almost a year now, and pride myself on being an intelligent potsmoker, so I've done all sorts of research and whatnot but this question has been plaguing me for a while.
Say I buy some mids.. what makes them mid-quality? Is it the part of the plant, grow conditions, the fact that the plant was pollenated, etc.?
If I were to plant some of the seeds, what would the outcome be? Would the results be mids? Would there be good buds?
Do seedbanks just sell premium strains? I rarely see them selling anything that's of lesser quality... does that mean that all seeds have originated from one of these strains, or are they just too low quality for the seedbanks to advertise/sell on their websites?
Basically, I'm considering starting to grow for fun and want to know what to expect and whether I should buy seeds online or just save a bunch of money and grow my leftover seeds.Johnny McPotSmoker Reviewed by Johnny McPotSmoker on . Question about seeds/strains
Right, if you provide great conditions to any seed, it will reward you with great bud.

Question about seeds/strains
dont really agree with the above if you are thinking seriously about growing would probably purchase seeds.
potency can vary greatly from the many strains that are available and you may not end up with anything better by using bag seed even if it was grown in perfect conditions, often commercial strains are high yielding but may not be very potent and growing conditions are not really going to improve it much.
the fact that the bag had seed in it to begin with is also somewhat of a concern either the grower didnt care if the plants got pollinated or they got pollinated on accident possibly by a hermaphodite wich will very likely pass on that trait if the bag seed is used.

Question about seeds/strains
You can grow SOME bagseed into chronic.
Much commercial weed is from lines that were bred for hardiness, yield, fast drying, and ease of manicure- NOT for deliciousness.
Bagseed can give good pot.
Better seed can give GREAT pot.

Question about seeds/strains
Yeah I dunno yet.. I guess I'll just practice with the bagseed, maybe grow 1-2 plants just to get a feel for it.
Hopefully I won't get stuck with any hermies, but if I do, oh well.
Then MAYYBEEEE I'll progress up to some nice seeds
I just wish I knew a grower so he could give me advice, seeds, and stuff. I guess I just have to make do with what I have.. I'll probably find one along the road.

Question about seeds/strains
Here is my view on this ... if you buy mids on the street your smoke will be ok. If you get seeds from the Mids and grow them with care, you will be very happy. It will definately be 10X better than what you bought. However, just b/c you grow a random generic seed with all the love in the world, it will only be as potent as its genetics. For example (sorry I am babbling) you take a healthy baby boy from 2 healthy parents that have a family tree full of healthy relatives. Now you take the baby boy that has great genes and put him in a 3rd wold country with just enough water and nutes to survive. You will now have something that could have been great but did not get the proper care and it went to shit. Now take a baby boy that has a family history of nothing but terrible medical problems ... everything from arthritis and bad vision to heart disease, cancer etc. You take that baby boy and you give him all the love and care ... but he doesn't survive. Why? His potential from the start was no good. No matter what you put in, you can only achieve the plants potential, no higher. Hope that wasn't too scary to read.

Question about seeds/strains
the plant can be no better than the original genetics in the seed it came from ... you aren't going to take a Mexican brick seed and turn it into Haze, with all the love and care, in the world ... but, you can wind up with a better plant than it would have been, if treated poorly by a commercial grower ... bagseeds are great for learning with, but you can also find some gems there, just depends on the origin ... :smokin:
