germinating seeds in a Bubble Cloner ...

I had recently built a simple bubble-cloner, along the lines of examples found in this Forum ... simple: a plastic box, hole saw, aquarium air-pump, aquarium heater, and an airstone (I used an 'airhose', same difference) ... having typical spotty success at cloning, this bubbler gave me 100% success at cloning, and, it's 'no-touch' ... I wondered if it would be good for starting seeds, so I did an experiment ... (I kill more plants with experiments, than I grow out ) ... but, that's how you find out what works ... anyway, to be fair, I tried germinating as if I knew nothing about it ... I took 13 DRY seeds, and just dropped them into some 'Rapid-Rooter' plugs ... I paid no heed as to which direction the seeds were pointing, or anything else ... the water had one drop of Superthrive per gallon added, nothing else ... (SuperThrive is good for rooting, but that's about it, in my opinion) ... the heater is pre-set to 80F-85F ... after 24 hours, one seed was sprouted ... within 72 hours, 11 seeds were sprouted, and I shut the bubbler down ... transplanted into plastic cups of mild potting soil (Happy Frog), they are now under the big CFL for vegging ... I really love the dual-purpose abilities of my bubble-cloner, it truly makes it 'no-touch, no worries' ... (I'm really surprised it even works for germinating, as I suspected the constant wetness would promote Pythium Wilt, but, everything went fine)

I love experiments! Thanks for including yours. I'm definitely gonna be making a bubble cloner as soon as I get this cabinet done. Thanks again for sharing your idea.
