although words hold their power, all you did was retort; and from the beginning it was just a misunderstanding.

however, you don't have to do anything (unless you want to sue them, but it wouldn't be worth having some idiots call my mother or employer), I'm no lawyer but I'm pretty sure that the police officer did step out of line by sharing that information.

also, if they start blackmailing you, don't do anything for a while to let a case build up and then sue them.
