While a band may not get much money from the label itself as far as putting food on the table goes (we all know that comes from touring, as you said), the record company is often the one that funds their studio time. So, show a band that you care about their time in the studio and buy their CD.

I look at the studio as an instrument in itself. Just look at Hendrix's "Electric Ladyland" album.

Man, if you could find Brewer and Shipley's "Tarkio" album, I'd be so happy. Yes, I am a hypocrite. lol
