Exactly. A good joint doesnt need to be wet to burn properly.

As though it's a blunt? I was rolling in the dark the other day and did that but i just emptied the weed out and re rolled it.

I've noticed that, especially when I get the gummy the wrong way round I tend to lick the entire joint to try and get it to seal.

When some people I know when to Canada one of them said to me some Canadians wet the joint with their mouth before lighting. Like suck it, kind of.
I've done this one numerous occasions for the sake of it, and it kinda makes the joint burn alittle slower, and the smoke thicker.

Well, I was with one of my buddies the other day and he licked this blunt he had just finished rolling before he lit it. He licked it all over about 3 times and then he said it makes it burn slower. So I guess that would be the reason. Not sure if it works though.

I've seen the joint in the mouth trick before to help it stay shut, not really necessary but I guess it could be efficient if you do it well.

In Canada putting the joint in your mouth before blazing is called "baptising the joint". Its to make it burn slower.

when you try to put out a fire...what do you pour on it? usually, water (if youre really unlucky, gasoline). its common sense that water makes paper slower.
and whats in your mouth? water (if youre unlucky...well i wont even go there).
just think about the answers to those two questions, if it doesnt come to you why people do this to a joint, then you should put the joint down!
by the way i know it as being called "baptising" it, and alot of the old tokers that i smoke with, the same guys who roll their joints as tubes with the ends twisted off and no filter, do this on every joint they smoke.
also if anyone watches kids in the hall, you may remember the sketch "hes hip, hes cool, hes 45" in which he pulls out a joint, baptising it and says to his son "hey, wanna split a doobie with your old man?"
