There is no question of there being other life out in our universe, I'd even say intelligent life is probably fairly common. But I feel to to the pure vastness of space, the entire reason that there is likely life is the exact reason why no life has ever or probably will ever contact or visit us. There is just too much distance. If we were finally develop the technology to actually look upon planets around other stars, any life we found we'd be looking at would be long long gone by thousands, millions, to billions of years ago.
