    Germination and Sex

I've heard that if your seeds are germinated and grown for a couple weeks in an ideal environment such as your PC Grow box then they're more likely to become females because of less stress.

Seems that males are just about always bigger and tougher than the females for a reason like to take on the big shitty elements of the area cause they just pwn the females. Has anyone ever experienced higher females rates due to better germination conditions?

i see no one was trying to help you out but i did some research for you since i'm a new grower and wanted an answer myself and this is what i got..........just dont stress the seeds and you will most likely get females...

You spend your hard earned money on the best seeds, so take the time to germinate them properly. DO NOT USE TAP WATER, it contains Chloride (bleach) and it can kill the seed. Only use Distilled water. Use room temperature water. Never use boiling water or cold water. Cold water can turn a female plant into a male plant and boiling water will kill the seed.

A quick word about male and female plants.

Before and after seed germination, you will not be able to distinquise if it's a male or female plant. For growing buds, we only want female plants and male plants are discarded. To ensure more female plants, to not cause any stress to the plants. Do not move them outdoors in the sun and then inside at night. The humidity inside and outside varies greatly and cause cause a plant that would otherwise be female, turn into a male plant due to stress. Watering with cold water from the tap will also cause strees. Always let tap water sit UNCOVERED for at least 24 hours. This brings the water to room temperature and also evaporated any chlorine in the city water. Using a fan in the grow room does not cause stress, it stimulates strong stems which are able to hold up the weight of sweet BC buds. Also, don't over fertalize.

That info was from BCSeeds.com......good luck and let me know how it works out...

so who you going to call when you got that craving

it IS important that you put a few drops of bleach into the water you are pre-soaking your seeds in, and the paper towel, if you are using that method ... chlorinated water does NOT hurt the seed, it will prevent fungi from getting a start on the germinating seed ... likewise, chlorine does not hurt the plant, either ... however, it does kill beneficial organisms in the soil, so it is best to allow it to evaporate for a couple days, before using ... :smokin:

Your question is pretty common. It's been asked and answered on this forum, but in the "grow' sections... Try reading this cannabis com link

I have a list of supposedly 'female beneficial' techniques, from an old grower's guide I came across ... I am NOT endorsing it, just passing it along ... it says:

" start these changes at '3-pairs of internodes' stage, and continue for the next 2-3 weeks " :
    1. Higher Nitrogen
    2. Higher Humidity
    3. Lower Temperature
    4. More Blue Light
    5. Fewer hours of light (this was to discount the 24-hour lighting argument)

you know what ? ... I have a hard enough time, just keeping plants happy and healthy, than to worry about influencing their gender ... if you grow even close to 'correctly', nature will normally give you at least 50% females ... not a disaster, I wound up with only ONE Willie Nelson female from ten seeds (9 no-germinate) ... but, took over 50 cuttings from it, for cloning ...

...the only experience I have with germinating...18 out of 20 seeds germinated directly in the soil...the other two might have have come up later...but I said fuck them two...

I follow the dark of the moon...method...to be safe.......when germinating.

My ancestors would roll over in their grave...if they found out I didn't germinate seeds by the "dark of the moon".......

agreed  ... if it's my imagination, so be it, but, I swear I've had better plants, when they were started in the dark of the moon ... :smokin:
