Amazing how small Sol (the sun) really is!!!
This is a great picture showing how small Sol (our sun) can be compared to red super giants. In a few billion years, they say Sol will be a red giant.
You will have to maximize the image to see the dot that is Sol. We think of Sol as this HUGE object. Now see it be dwarfed to a dot.
Remember...this is supposed to teach you to be humble... :thumbsup:Anubis10012007 Reviewed by Anubis10012007 on . Amazing how small Sol (the sun) really is!!! the sun is a main sequence star right now, in the middle of its life, but it might not become a red super giant, some times stars will go right to black dwarfs and shit. although im not positive on this, i only took astronomy in high school because the chairs where nice

In the constellation, Cepheus...some 2000 light years away. It's mass is 20x that of the Sun, as displayed in the image posted by Anubis.

It's downright ignorant almost arrogant, to believe we're the only living organisms in the universe. There are over 3,000 galaxies in our neighborhood. What an incredible number! Imagine the insight we'd stumble onto if we just imagined that number of galaxies, each of them containing a planet which harbors life. It gives new meaning to the phrase, "we are not alone," in my opinion. Instead of thinking how big the universe is, we should understand how very small we are. And yet, we magnify ourselves to be much more than is in reality, without even acknowledging the thought that our lives are meaningless, trivial. I want to know the truth!
