M-16s are after my service time, but I believe you can set them on a 3 round burst with one pull of the trigger. sounds more like what happened as most GIs kept them set that way, just pointed and pulled the trigger bing bang boom 3 in the forehead. In war zones, even the bullies had to watch their steps, because if they were hated by regular guys, they had a tendecy to get it in the back, thats why I say he must have really pissed someone off to get hit from 10 ft. away in the face. I could be wrong, maybe the CIA hit him, but I think they would have done a cleaner hit.

not gonna lie dont really think the government was all that concerned about pat tillman speaking out against the war... if he really acted like a dick out there i wouldnt be supprised to find out that one of his buddy's gave him a full burst to the face... btw m16 cant be set to full auto they are semi auto or 3rd burst now its still fucked up that the government tried to cover up this incident whether it was just some GI pushed over the edge by an over-agressive tillman or a crazy murder conspiracy that came down from GW himself... also if he had time to say all this shit while people were shooting at him from that close it sounds like they were less than professional and i suspect if there was a serious conspiracy thing going on they would more than likely get someone who was able to shoot to carry it through
