Sounds good to me. This is kind of along the lines of the double potting technique. With double potting (soil) when the roots out grow the container, you just cut out the bottom, or make big holes. Then you would place another pot under it to allow the root system to continue growing larger. Since we know that the roots delegate the size of the actual plant above ground, this technique makes perfect since for the grower who is trying to maximize. I think cutting most of the plastic away from the bottom would be enough to allow the roots to continue growing past the size of the container. After you cut the holes in the bottom, what are you going to be putting the roots and 1 gal container into? (i.e. the 2nd pot)
