Cuba reaches out to US on ??Rebellion Day?

HAVANA, Cuba - Fidel Castro??s first no-show in 48 years in Cuba??s national holiday fanned doubts he will ever retake the helm from his brother Raul Castro, who has renewed his offer of talks with the United States.

??It??s over for Fidel Castro as president and commander in chief,? said the ??Iron Lady? of dissidents Martha Beatriz Roque, who was jailed in 2003 along with 75 other prominent dissidents, but freed a year later for health reasons.

??He??s there, but that??s it,? she added, referring to Fidel??s appearances in television videos that leave questions about his political future unanswered.

Castro, who turns 81 on August 13, missed National Rebellion Day celebrations on Thursday for the first time since the revolution he headed brought him to power in 1959.

Sounds like Fidel is on his last legs and his brother is moving in a new direction. Time will tell.......

Maybe we should reach back. Isn't it about time we outgrew fear of communism. Hey, if it works for a Government, then so be it. The dictatorial aspects of communism need to be eliminated, but otherwise, who cares. The US government is afraid we, (the people), might see something we like about it and want to include some things in our government, like national health care. That's the reason the big anti-communism brainwash since the '50's. The Private enterprise (Spell corporate moguls) that actually run our government decided that wouldn't be in their interest. There are some positive aspects of communism and some really frightening ones. But, if our Government keeps on it's parh, we'll have all the dictatorial aspects of communism without the benefits.
