Home made carbon filter
First, a tube the same diameter as a CD is made, about 2 foot long.
held together with small tie-clips.
Then, fabric is wrapped around, leaving a an inch or 2 overhang at one end, and 6 inches at the other.
This is secured down the legnth with duct tape, and the end with the 6 inch overhang of fabric is twisted and tied-cliped, then sealed with a CD on the end the help keep the shape round.

Next,
some foam pipe insulation is wrapped around the bottom of the tube and held in place with duct tape.
then a larger tube is made for the smaller one to fit into, but this tube is two inches shorter.

Then, the smal tube is insrted into the big one, and the gap is carfully filled with activated carbon granuals.
Once this is done, a second strip of foam is inserted around the top, this helps the filter keep its shape.
this is then all sealed up with duct tape

Finishing touches are made, duct tape to seal the ends and the fabric join down the legnth and large tie clips along the legnth to hold the shape.
A filter like this costs abot £50-£80, we made three for under £20
