    NEW light for me too

Just got a new light yesterday, Sunleaves 400W HPS/MH switchable, it runs sooooo cool (ballast temp) it's unbelievable, in addition to running nice and cool it has the capability to have duct flanges added and air cool the ballast, I had not seen or heard of this before. The reflector is also from sunleaves, it's called the lightwave.

The bulb I got is a regular HPS, Is the regular bulb ok?

    Any input appreciated.

i personally have never used combo lights, but i have heard and read great

things about them. i think you got the best of both worlds in one light.

your regular hps should be ok as long as it`s the wattage the fixture calls for.

You must be rolling in the money to afford a light system like that.

This setup wasn't all that expensive, about $265.00 I think, everything included. I also have a 150 HPS under that reflector. The funny thing is that the 150W ballast will burn you if you touch it, but I could rest my balls on the 400W ballast, seriously it's like 80 degrees fahrenheit.

Now I'm kinda jelous of your 600 SPLIFFBUILDER.

hi lordsoth,if i were you i'd take the 150w down an let the 400w get on with it.save the 150 as a back up lamp,as if it get's as hot as you say i'ts a fire hazard!!!!aslo i think lamp's are a bit close together...don't want one of them poppin another fire hazard..the 400w i had did the job nice!only i moved house 2 year's ago, an got a bigger growroom now,so i been saving an got me a 600w..sweet.hope this help's...love an respect..spliffbuilder.

I am moving the 150 to another room (I have about 850 square feet of grow space sectioned into 6 rooms) for the purpose of making Feminized seeds, or at least trying. But to be fair to my 150 it does NOT have any casing around the ballast it is a bare transformer, capacitor, and striker, and I hang it from the cieling (eight foot cieling) so nothing comes in contact with it.
