    bipolar

I was diagnoised with being bipolar about 3 years ago. I started smoking pot about a year and half ago but didn't start smoking everyday till about 3 month ago. Anyway, I have noticed a big different in me, I don't have my mood swings and I'm happy 99% of the time. I still take my medication but I thank weed for making me better!

    Hi,

I work as a mental health technician in Texas. I deal every day with people who are bipolar and schizophrenic.

You have to be very careful when you have a mental illness like BPD and you are using marijuana. Many BP people have developed chemical dependency to their drugs of choice. The symptoms of BPD are the main reasons why someone develops those problems but the chemical doesn't help either. Of course you feel better and don't have mood swings; YOUR HIGH. You feel good. Just be careful when you come down because you can crash hard.

In defense I have to say that most (like 99%) of the BP people I work with are addicted to alcohol or crack cocaine, not marijuana. But you still need to be careful.

I hope my opinion helped in any way. I have a BA in psychology and now I am a graduate student here in Texas and I am going for my LPC and then afterwards I plan on going to med school. Psychiatric illnesses are the field I work in. Just thought I'd let you know in case you questioned what I know.

weed helps my mood swings alot.
depression and anxiety is hard to deal with ,a nice toke or two will change the mood
its not a cure but it helps the shit be manageable
i dont take no other meds for it cuase none worked for me
and ive been Rx'd so many for it its not funny.i stop letting docs treat me for it
worst one was dekapeto..that shit made me go into a spiral of depression

long story short,,,,best med i had for it was a jiont
and some quiet time after it to let it work,
    peace

    Howdy smoker4life,

You should be commended, for pursueing an education-keep up the good work !

I have a friend, who's bipolar, and she's currently on a manic, driving us all nuts..bless her heart, and one of my goals,is to grow a strain that will help her out..but if marijuana just exacerbates the problem, then I don't want to do that. When she's on a manic,I want to prescribe indica to calm her down, and when she's in the depression mode,I want to give her sativa,to pick her up.

Am I wrong in this approach ?

My girlfriend is afflicted with clinical depressive disorder-can't recall if it's major or minor, and sativa seems to be her favorite,in terms of what lifts her spirits the most. After trying several different meds,a former doctor once told her that he wished he could prescribe marijuana for her-because she wasn't gittin any good results from the regimen he'd prescribed..but when she started smoking pot in the absence of meds, she improved greatly-which he noted..somewhat to his surprise.

Anyhow..I was just curious on your take on this.

    Have a good one...Torog

from personal observations and self medication

    you have it right
indica strian put me on couch
sativa make me wanna do things
but that my bipolar mind ,not saying its all folks

    but note,
i get a rush of energy off narcotics like hydrocodone speeds me up at first
then they lay me out after a few hours
thankfully i dont use them dialy.maybe few time a week when pain is bad

    have a good one
and your a good guy for helping that chick
