they should be ok in different 1/4 gal. pots for a month then change to 1gal. pots, and just before you change your light cycle to 12/12 get 2-3 gal.pots try for 3gal. its time to change pots when the roots are near the bottom of the planter, or you can see them out the drainage holes.

Hi sweetie, How's it going? Keep the CLFs close but not touching the plants- about 3 inches is fine. I disagree about waiting to separate the plants. the longer you wait, the bigger the root system. If you are gentle, you should be able to transplant them without too much shock. Next time 1 seed, 1 cup! I use these deep blue plastic glasses I found at Walmart (I think). They are 12 oz, thin and cheap. I poked a hole in the bottom for drainage (this is important to do!). I like them 'cause they block most of the light, but I can still see the roots. Makes judging transplanting time easier. I also sometimes use paper drink cups, but I like the blue plastic glasses better.
While they are still in the glasses, I top them. I take a 3 or 4 node cutting. The cutting goes into the 12/12 closet to sex and, hopefully, make roots. They sex way faster than the plants they came from. I discard the males at this time (be sure to label your plants and cuttings!). The clones are put back under 24/7 lighting as soon as I know they are females. They reveg and grow there until they are big enough for 12/12.
From there they go to 1 gallon pots. I keep them under 24/7 lighting until they are good sized. I like to LST my plants. I hang bolts from twist ties, like Xmas ornaments, to make my plants grow low and wide. This exposes the side branches to full light and they grow buds much bigger than the "popcorn" buds you'd expect.
Finally the plants are transplanted into 19 gallon rubber maid tubs ( Walmart - $4, the lids make nice drip pans for the tubs) I put 2 small plants or 1 large into each tub. I slide the tubs into the closet and there they grow! I have worms in my tubs and the occasional fungus gnat. I put foil on the surface of the soil to reflect light on the lower side of the plant. It also confuses the gnats so they don't breed as much. With CFLs and tube fluoros, there is very little chance of hot spots forming from reflections from the foil, unlike HPS. Keep an eye out for spider mites- they are deadly to your plants! Use good soil and some epsom salts (try the Dollar store or any drug store). Read the grow FAQs. Don't over-water or over-fertilize your plants! It is easier to fix too little than too much. Don't buy Miracle Grow. Grow organically, the harvest is going into your lungs- no poisons needed!!
Enjoy your new hobby!- Granny:hippy:
