The face is terribly underrated
Insofar as what makes a person attractive, the structure of the face is the key, fundamental, and by far most important factor.
And yet people are considered beautiful when they just have a hot body, know how to apply 7 pounds of makeup (if female, and sometimes male), but they have a shitty bone structure.
I thought of this because I saw a picture of Paris Hilton, who has quite a poor facial bone structure, and I can tell would look like absolute SHIT without her layers (I think she looks like shit anyway, but some don't...)

Well attractiveness (physical) is always a opinion, like you said some people think paris hilton is hot as hell and some people think she is ugly.
But then again you can get people who are slightly overweight and yet you think they have potential to be a model, or they are quite sexy but just need to lose weight, in other words they have a attractive face but unattractive body.
Your body is something you can change, everyone can, every male can make their bodys have 6pacs and all the muslces they want showing and every female can make their body nice a slim and have a nice structure by working out, plastic surgery or whatever method they want.
Every female can make their faces attractive by using make up but for us males (well normal ones at least) we dont use make up so we cant change that but however i believe most of it comes down to opinion.
Some girls like short hair on guys some like longer hair so it depends on what the beholder likes hence the saying "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder".
But there is no point in looking fine as hell if you have an extremely ugly personality.
So at the end of the day i think it all comes down to opinion.

for me its about facial features, bone structures. i personally dont think the rest of the body counts as much as the face. body is bonus! even if the person isnt wearing make up and isnt all done up, i can see through it and see the beauty of the person. too much makeup is a turn off, as iff you're trying to hide something.. natural beauty for me
but even with make up on i can for some reason tell which guys/girls are beautiful and those that are not. just one look in their eyes and i feel it. lol girls (or guys) with so much make up are ugly. but i understand why they do it. but like CC said, it comes down to the opinion.

The face is terribly underrated
Do some reading about the classic ideals of beauty, Cannabis=Freedom. Scientifically, physical facial beauty is generally accepted as occurring when people have symmetrical, balanced features. This has been true throughout history, and symmetry is also something that other animal species look for in females of their species, too, because it conveys genetic balance, wholeness and reproductive health, among other things. Paris, as much as people love to slam her, is considered beautiful because she's facially symmetrical, among other things. Her brain leaves a lot to be desired. But I do not agree that she's ugly or that she has an awful bone structure. If you analyze her face on one of the classic beatuy diagrams, measuring eye width and facial length, cheekbone width, nose evenness, etc., she very definitely qualifies as symmetrical. I don't find her personally appealing because I think she's absolutely intellectually vapid. But I do think she's a classically pretty girl.

The face is terribly underrated
i've always wondered why i'm one of the few who seem to actually go for face...
even someone with a 'hot body' (by model/fame standards) and an ugly face, is ugly to me...
however someone with a beautiful face (and personality for me!) even if the body isn't hot by above standards, is beautiful to me...
yes i agree, the face is underrated these days...
