I haven't had a chance to be on the forums in awhile now. No internet in my location being the biggest problem. You see, I've been a little preoccupied with volunteer work in Germany. I know, it sounds slightly questionable when I tell people I'm leading a workcamp in Germany, but I swear, its not that kind of camp. Not a bad set up really- 24 hours of manual labor a week in exchange for lodging, food, and activity money. The hardest part of the job is keeping my multinational volunteers together. Really, this can be a bitch. Amazingly they expect me to know exactly where they should go at all times, from clubs to stores, even though I'm an American in a city I've never visited before. Sometimes it feels like I'm trying to herd cats...
Luckily more entertainment is soon to come. Following the end of this camp I'll be biking along the former East/West German border for 3 weeks and drinking more of this delicious German beer. The best, as they say, comes last.
Indie music fest in Brussels, Belgium called Pukkelpop with a great line up and around 130,000 people in attendence. A weekend of quality music followed by a short trip to my last city, Amsterdam.
I've been once before, during the Cannabis Cup last spring. Needless to say I visited many coffeeshops- gray area, pink floyd etc. But I'm interested in any recommendations from more experienced travelers. Its around 4 more weeks actually, then its back to school for me. I wish I could remain, but I can't. No oktoberfest for me this time. Last year I was lucky enough to make it for the last 4 days of Oktoberfest. Talk about a crazy, drunken good time...
