I'll give you my OPINION on your issue...
1. I wouldn't worry about the presence of a small amount of light in veg. In flowering, your basically trying to tell the female, that life as she knows it, is about to end. So, all the things you can do to induce "panic" in the females(causing them to put on max. bud mass), the better. This is my understanding of why complete darkness is striven for.
2. LED's put off so few lumens, I wouldn't worry about it at all. If your really paranoid, you could put a small pc of electrical tape over each LED during the dark cycle. It takes brains and balls to succeed in life. Some have way too much of one and not enough of the other!

every bit of light at night increases the % of hermies to go up. I have not seen any evidence that the led on your gear are good or bad for the plants. I would hope the manufactures would test there gear. Most of the boys I know put black tape over the led just to make sure.

The general rule I was taught is.....if you can see your hand in front of your face in the area with lights off....it's not dark enough. Check in several different spots in the grow area to make sure the darkness is equal all through.
In veg....weird lighting will stress the plant and can cause problems but I don't know if that would translate into hermi-ism later.

O yea and hermies.CouchLockCafe
