In 1997 I was working in downtown NYC (manhatten) and me and my bro met up for lunch near the south street seaport, both dressed in suits, we sat on a bench near where the FDR drive starts, we were about half way done with it when this guy who looked like a tourist came over and asked where a bath room was, I started pointing him across the street and he pulled out one of them badge's on a necklace or lanyard and says do you know what this is? and we were like ummm yeah. he asked us for ID and I started trying to get my last toke in and he was like hey stop that! and I was like oops, he chucked over by a garbage can on the floor, then he started to feel guilty and said he was giving us a ticket for smoking marijuana in public and he would let us go but his sergeant sent him and was watching and pointed him out, I was surprised we did not catch him there, then he noticed I kept my eye on the joint on the floor (it was a fatty) and he went over and tore it up and threw it in the garbage. I went court about a month later and the fine should have been somewhere around $80 all together but when I got to court a really old judge was there, I thought I was doomed and at my turn he simply said you were caught smoking marijuana and asked in a real stern voice, are you going to do this again, i said no, he said if I was in there again it would be worse and told me to get out of there, I was a bit relieved that month or so was stressful before the court date.
