    sicko

Just watched Michael Moore's movie 'Sicko'. It was quite an eye opener for me as I've always lived in a country where health care is free. I am on some medications and get them for free. I worked out that they would cost around $1500 a month in the US. Of course that is only if the insurance companies didn't want to pay which it seems happens quite a lot in the US. I don't know how much the national insurance I pay compares to the American health insurance but at the end of the day no matter what my ailment and background and health history I will get free care. If you can watch it and listen to the wise words of Tony Benn it may give you an itch that you need to scratch and take action.

yeah i only go to the hospital when it's an emergency (awhile back thought i was having a heart attack as an example).... i never will pay the bills.... i can't be sued for it... not my fault i can't afford to see a doctor... i've actually had like 10 injuries in my life that desperately needed stitches but i took care of them myself with butterfly stitches, gauze, medical tape and anti-biotics (and heavy ammounts of alcohol after the bleedings stopped for pain)

if i went to the doctor everytime i 'needed' to... well.... id' be there every other day...

Tony Benn says if all the poor got out and voted instead of being trapped by their fear and circumstances there would be a revolution.

I finally got the chance to see Sicko last night. I can honestly say, I am sick to my stomach. I can't wait to move to Canada, it can't happen soon enough.

Check this out, Hillary Clinton proposed giving $5000 to every baby born in the US, to "reinstitute a tradition of savings [she] remembered as a child".

I've got an idea. Why doesn't she pay my health insurance instead of handing over my hard-earned cash to some kid whose parents are just going to blow the money on fossil fuels anyway?

After seeing Sicko I got behind the national health care bandwagon too, but the more I listen to what Ron Paul has to say about health care the more I question if that really is what would be best for our country. We do need change, that is certain, but I don't think creating a national health care plan and increasing taxes to hell to pay for it is a good idea, (or forgoing on taxes and keep on racking up debt).

But what worries me most is that it looks like Hillary might be the one to set up this national health care system, and I just don't trust her one bit to handle this the way it needs to be handled to be a good system. If we are going to move on with socialized medicine, we need to be smart about it and make sure it doesn't cause more debt or hurt the quality of our health care, as well as not harming our economy.
